Offended by the Gift

I went to a used goods shop today to ask how much I could get for a watch that I got for free. He asked me what it was worth I told him that it was a stainless steel chronometer made in Switzerland and that it was worth 8900 $ new. I had gotten five years of perfect timing out of it. Not only that but I had learned the discipline of winding it everyday. I got about 3500$ out of it never having spent a cent on it. Then I spent 35$ on a cheap quartz watch to keep time. As I inspected the watch I realized that it was brand new. So my guess is that someone received a free gift and got offended by the cheapness of it and went to sell it for cheaper. Now nothing is cheaper than that which is received for free. Salvation is a free gift but I know many religious minded people who get offended by this idea. Somehow they want to feel like they deserved salvation and the concept of it being free and for all men not only offends them but puts them out of business.
